William Hardin was born near Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky in 1806. He was the second son and second child of twelve in the family of Thomas and Mary [Wilson] Hardin. The family moved to Wayne County, Indiana, where William married Prudence Walker, the daughter of George and Julian Ann [Welsh] Walker on February 21, 1828.
William and Prudence moved to New London, Henry County, Iowa, in 1839; they lived in New London the remainder of their lives and are buried in Ferrel Cemetery near the town. They were active in the Methodist Episcopal Church. They had eight children, four of whom died in infancy. Prudence Walker died July 23, 1877 in Henry County, Iowa. After her death, William married the widow, Louisa (maiden name unknown) King, who was born in about 1816 in England (or Tennessee), and died in about 1881. William and she were married in 1877. Louisa King Hardin died, too, and in about 1882 William married the widow, Susan (maiden name also unknown) Horsey, who was born in about 1820 in Kentucky.
William married Prudence Walker, daughter of George Walker and Julian Jean Welsh, on 21 Feb 1828. (Prudence Walker was born in 1808, died on 23 Jul 1877 in Henry County, Iowa, USA and was buried in Ferrel Cemetery New London, Henry County, Iowa.)
