FREMONT \emdash Charles William Tagtmeyer, 97, of Fremont, Ind., died Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at the Lakeland Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Angola, Ind.
He was born May 21, 1917, in Fort Wayne to Charles F. and Angeling R. (Aman) Tagtmeyer. He married Vira Waneta Lepley on October 27, 1940.
He was the owner of C.W. Tagtmeyer Construction.
He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Angola, Ind., and a former member of the Fort Wayne Builders Association.
He was an avid pike fisherman and loved building houses.
Charles is survived by his wife, Vira Waneta Tagtmeyer of Fremont, Ind.; three sons, John Charles (Donna) Tagtmeyer of Angola, Ind., Steven David (Jill) Tagtmeyer of Gulf Shores, Ala., and Michael Joseph (Jeri) Tagtmeyer of Fremont, Ind.; one daughter, JoAnn Joyce (Bob) Schaab of Fort Wayne, Ind.; a brother, Louis Tagtmeyer of Fort Wayne, Ind.; a sister, Edna Hedeen of Angola, Ind.; seven grandchildren, Danielle, Matthew, Melissa, Jennifer, Tim, Christina and Stephanie; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters Nora Tagtmeyer and Gertrude Boxberger; two brothers, Fred and John Tagtmeyer ;and one great-grandchild.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Angola, Ind., with Father Fred Pasche officiating. Burial will be in Circle Cemetery, Hudson, Ind.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today, Friday, July 25, 2014, at the Weicht Funeral Home, Angola, and from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the church prior to the service.
