SOUTHWEST CITY, Mo. - James "Jim" Leas, 66, of Southwest City, Mo. died on Monday, May 7, 2001 at 1:40 p.m. at Beverly Health Care Center of Anderson, Mo. after an illness. Jim was born on January 9, 1935 in Southwest City, Mo. to the late Frederick Roy and Sarah Irene (Drennan) Leas. He had lived in Southwest City, Mo. all of his life. He was a member of the Full Gospel Church in Southwest City, serving as Deacon for at least 25 years. He was a truck driver for Nichols Brothers in Southwest City for 10 years and worked as a machinist at Sibley's Engineering in Sulphur Springs, Ark. fro 26 years. He married Darlene Barnes on December 27, 1954 at Southwest City.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene Barnes, of the home; son, Brent Leas and wife, Stephanie, of Bella Vista, Ark.; two daughters, Brenda Davis and husband, Larry, of Grove, and Kathy Keith and husband, A.T. "Bud," of Anderson, Mo.; a sister, Twila Stiles of Stigler, Okla.; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Jim Leas will be held on Thursday, May 10, at 10:00 a.m. at the Full Gospel Church in Southwest City. Reverend Mark Short and Reverend Jeff Jones will officiate. Burial will be in the Southwest City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 9, until 7:00 p.m. at the Ozark Funeral Home in Southwest City. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Full Gospel Church in Southwest City. in care of the funeral home.
