History of Steuben County Indiana (Pg 763-764) Harrison Whysong was born in Somerset County, Pa., in 1812, and when a boy hs parents moved to Fayette County, where he was reared, and married in 1832 to Amy Moore, a native of Alleghany County, Md. In 1851 he moved to Hardin County, Ohio, and in 1861 to DeKalb County, Ind., coming to Steuben County in 1863. He bought a farm of Jesse Rutan, who made the first improvements and built a log cabin. Mr. Whysong made many improvements, and in 1875 build his present residence. To Mr. & Mrs. Whysong were born twelve childlren, ten of who are living-three sons and seven daughters.

At the time the history was written Harrison Whysong had 12 children.

With them is their son, Joseph S (25) b/c 1855 Ohio, their dau-in-law, Mary E. (23) b/c 1857 Ohio and grandson, Ford (2/12) months old b Apr 1880 Indiana. Also with them is their grand-daughter, Sarah E. Morrison (14) ib/c 1866 Iowa.
1900 Census, Salem, Steuben, Indiana (Harrison Whysong)-87, widower, b Nov 1812 Pennsylvania. His daughter, Isadore Baker is listed as 67 yrs. old, widow b Mar 1833 Pennsylvania. Her son, J R is listed as 28 yrs. old b Nov 1871 Indiana.
Harrison Whysong, was born in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, November 21, 1812, and departed this life at his home in Salem Township, August 8, 1909, aged 96 yrs 8 months and 17 days. He was married to Amy Moore, April 15, 1832, who departed this life on January 27, 1892. To this union there were born twelve children, four sons and eight daughters. One son died in Pennsylvania, one daughter in Iowa and one in Hudson, Indiana. The rest of the children are living in Salem Township except one who lives in Michigan. After he married they settled in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, where they lived for ten years and from there moved to Maryland and was there for a year, returning to Pennsylvania. In 1851 he moved to Hardin County, Ohio, and in 1863 he bought the farm in Indiana on which he lived until his death. Funeral services were held from the M. E. Church, Tuesday at two O'Clock PM. So closes a long and useful life of more than ninety six years. (Picture included with obit)
