Allen Arthur "Bud" Leas, 82, of Monona, died Monday, October 19, 2009 at his home following a sudden illness. Funeral Services were held Friday, October 23 at Living Faith United Methodist Parish, Monona, with Rev. Dennis Gilbert officiating. Burial followed in the Monona City Cemetery, Monona, with military rites.
Bud was born April 28, 1927 on the family farm near Waterville to Arthur and H. Louise (Larsen) Leas. He attended Sixteen Country School through the eighth grade. Bud served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1945-1947.
Bud was united in marriage to Anna Mae Marovets June 5, 1951 at the Methodist Church in Monona. Bud and Anna Mae farmed their entire married life together. In 1964, they moved to their farm east of Monona. Anna Mae passed away November 18, 2004 and Bud retired to Monona shortly after her passing.
Bud enjoyed dancing with his partner, Anna Mae. They took several trips, including a trip to South Fork, TX. Bud served on the Monona Rural Fire Board, where he served as a past president. He also enjoyed raising miniature horses for many years. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his brother, Arvid (Hedy) Leas of Waterville; his sister, Barbara (Kirk) Mowat of Altoona; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bud was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sisters, La Rene Gjefle and Maxine Thorstenson; and one brother, Eldon Leas.
Leonard Funeral Home of Monona was in charge of arrangements.
