Obituary - Peoria Journal-Star

Andy L. Slager, 91, a patient at Sharon Elms Nursing Home the past 18month, and formerly of 214 Cole St., East Peoria, died at 8:57 p.m. Sunday at Methodist Medical Center. Born October 26, 1896, in Brocton to William and Minnie King Slager, he married Faun C. Arwine Oct. 6, 1919, in Murdock.

Surviving are his wife, also patient at Sharon Elms; one son, Williamof Dixon; one daughter, Mrs. Earl (Marjorie) Eller of Peoria; five grandchildren and 14 great-grand-children.

Also surviving are Mrs. Harold (Betty) Wantland and Mrs. Jack (Erma) Keil of East Peoria, and Emmerson Slager of Hopedale, all reared in the Slager Home. Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

He last worked as a foreman for Manhattan Coal Co. of East Peoria andMcDougal-Hartman Bridge Construction Co.

An Army Veteran of World War I, he was a member of Creve Ceour Christian Church and a former member of Hilton Lodge 1143, AF&AM.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at LeRoy Schmidt Memorial Chapel, East Peoria, were visitation will begin one hour earlier. The Rev. Gary Weber will officiate and burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery.
