General Notes: Cape Sandy - The community was sadden by the death of Mrs. Mellie Suell Burch, May 5, 1938, after a long illness which she was patiently endured. She was 80 years, 11 months and 2 days old. She leaves her husband, Frank C. Burch, a brother, David Suell,a sister Biddie Chism; two stepdaughters, Ruth Cox and Jessie Jones and a number of nieces and nephews. "Aunt Millie" as she was better known was converted and united with the Methodist Church early in life. She was laid to rest beneath a huge mound of flowers in the Sheckells cemetery. The Rev. C. E. Waggoner conducted the services. Melvina married Abraham Sheckell, son of John Sheckell and Isabel Leas. (Abraham Sheckell was born on 4 Nov 1845 in Indiana, USA, died on 28 Dec 1921 2 and was buried in Sheckell Cemetery, Cape Sandy, Crawford County, Indiana, USA 2.) Melvina next married Frank C. Burch. (Frank C. Burch was born on 10 Feb 1867, died on 13 Sep 1930 and was buried in East Cemetery, Alton, Crawford County, Indiana, USA.) |
