David Weems (1706-1779) of Anne Arundel County married first Elizabeth Lane (died 1738) and then Esther Hill (1717-1776). He was brother to my ancestor, Dr. James Loch Weems (1708-1781) of Calvert County, Maryland as well as to Williamina Weems, who later settled in Pennsylvania after her marriage to William Moore. The mother of these three Weems siblings was Lady Elizabeth Loch of Scotland. Her brother, Dr. William Loch, brought the children, and some say his sister as well to Maryland circa 1715/1720. Some accounts say the father's name was Col. William Wemyss of Scotland, who died fighting for the Jacobite cause in 1715. Other accounts say the father's name was James Wemyss -- either Lord Burntisland or Sir James Wemyss of Bogie, Fife, Scotland.
