General Notes:
George signed up for a 12 month enlistment during the Civil War and brought his own horse, valued at $145. He was captured by Union troops on Dec. 26, 1861, and jailed as a prisoner of war. He was sent to Camp Chase, Ohio on April 30, 1862. He was exchanged for another prisoner in Vicksburg and he returned to his regiment in November 1862. He was arrested again November 17, 1864 at Patterson Creek, Hampshire County, Virginia by a Captain Kelly. He ended in Wheeling, Va. at Atheneum Prison. He was sent to Camp Chase, Ohio on Dec. 5, 1864, and died there in the prison. of typhoid fever
