"Thomas is the ancestor I started this family history with. From this point I searched backwards and forward for both ancestors and descendants. I never have been able to find any record of a birth or death date, but found quite a lot of information in between. Thomas was found listed on an estate sale document for Samuel Keys Oct. 2, 1843 in Clark Co., Illinois, which places him in Illinois earlier than I first thought. He bought and sold real estate several times during his twenty one year residence in Clark County. According to a letter dated 25 December 1936, to Helene from Aunt Harriet Ausman, there was a set of silver spoons belonging to Thomas and his wife, probably a wedding present. They had the initials "TL" on them. Caroline Leise Donaldson had them up to the time she died and they were to go to her brothers'and sisters'oldest daughters. They were sterling and made by a silversmith in Maryland. Robert Cooper, grandson of Mary Leise Cooper, another daughter of Thomas and Sibbel has a spoon in his possession." 2
