George Libey

General Notes:
1. George Libey born about 1780. Lived in Cumberland County, PA during the
early 1800s.
William and his 2 brothers, John and GeorgeJr., left PA and went west to Ohio
about 1840. A few years later they moved on to Indiana and Michigan. William
settled in Fairfield Township, DeKalb County, IN in 1843 with his wife
Elizabeth and 7 children. In November 1849 William died of consumption having
been ill for 300 days. His family struggled to keep up the new farm and keep
themselves from starving. Margaret and Henry Roop's descendants still live in
Northern Indiana. In 1857 Elizabeth Libey became ill from cancer and finally
died in 1860. William and Elizabeth are buried in the Fairfield Cemetery,
DeKalb County, IN. Many of the family populate the Indiana area today.
