FUNERAL RITES FOR AUBURN MOULDER, 57
David Roop, an Employee of Auburn Foundry for 29 Years, Collapsed after Exchange of Christmas Presents
Final rites were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Evangelical United Brethren Church at Corunna for the late David Roop, 57, of Corunna, who died suddenly Christmas eve at his home in Corunna.
The Rev. Amos Mast of Sherwood, O., former pastor of the United Brethren church in Corunna, officiated at the services. Burial was in Fairfield Center cemetery.
Mr. Roop, a moulder at the Auburn Foundry, Inc., in Auburn for over 29 years, died at 11:40 p.m. Friday, 30 minutes after he collapsed of a heart attack in his home. The family had held their Christmas exchange earlier in the evening and the guests were leaving when Mr. Roop was stricken while standing in the doorway of his home. He was carried to a couch, where he died before medical aid could arrive.
The body was taken to the Gerig funeral home in Auburn for burial preparations and was returned Saturday afternoon to the late residence. At noon Monday, the remains were taken to the church to lie in state until the hour of sevices.
Mr. Roop, a native of Steuben county north of Hudson, was born June 23, 1891. He was a resident most of his life in the Corunna community. March 26, 1913, he married the former Delcie Deetz in Auburn.
She survives with a son, Dorsie Roop of R. 3, Auburn; two daughters, Mrs. Clark Farrington of Ashley and Miss Eileita Roop at home; four grandchildren; two brothers, Elmer Roop of R. 1, Auburn, and Jay Roop of near Fremont, and one sister, Mrs. Nelson Conkle of Garrett. ²

David married Delcie May Deetz, daughter of Oscar Deetz and Myrtie L. (Delcie May Deetz was born on 18 Dec 1892 in Helmer, Steuben County, Indiana, USA, died on 5 Dec 1963 in Auburn, Dekalb County, Indiana, USA and was buried in Fairfield Cemetery, Fairfield Center, Dekalb County, Indiana, USA ².)
