Conrad I, Duke of Zähringen 1
General Notes: Conrad I, Duke of Zähringen (c.?1090 \endash 8 January 1152 in Constance) was Duke of Zähringen from 1122 until his death and from 1127 also Rector of Burgundy. He spent most of his life stemming the growing power of the House of Hohenstaufen and to this end, allied himself with the House of Guelph. Conrad married Clementia de Namur, daughter of Godfrey de Namur I, Count of Namur and Ermesinde of Luxembourg, Countess of Namur. (Clementia de Namur died on 28 Dec 1158.) |
