General Notes: "A mariner in Hampton, he inherited the Hampton homestead and was an active and useful citizen. In 1671 he had a grant of lot 52, 40 acres in the south of Hampton called 'The New Plantation' (now Seabrook). He drowned in the Hampton River, near the mouth of Cole's Creek." James married Anne Roberts, daughter of Govenor Thomas Roberts and Rebecca Hilton, in 1650 in Haverhill, Essex County, Massachusetts, USA. (Anne Roberts was born in 1631 in Dover, Strafford County, New Hampshire, USA, died on 31 Dec 1718 in Hampton, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, USA and was buried in Pine Grove Cemetery, Hampton, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, USA.) |
