Johannes De Hooges ¹

  General Notes:

e was born about 1578 in Meshelen, Belgium, son of Jan and Catarena (de Draijere) de Hooges. His family fled to Amsterdam, Netherlands to escape religious persecution. He married Maria Tyron in Amsterdam, Netherlands following their published banns on March, 21, 1608. They were parents of eight children: Johannis, Katharijna, Petrus, Marija, Anna, Leonora, Margriet, and Anthony. Johannes most likely married second Sara Stevens as a child, Lowijs de Hooges, was baptized 11 Feb 1624 listing them as parents. All of his children were born in Amsterdam. There was no record that he ever came to New Netherlands and it is presumed he died in Amsterdam.
