Clarence Leo Jarrett ¹

Clarence Leo Jarrett, 94, died Sunday at Autumnwood Extended Care at Tipton County Memorial Hospital. Born May 9, 1901, in Duck Creek Township in Madison County, he was the son of Schuyler and Alice Mock Jarrett. He married Veda Etchison in 1923. She died Oct. 13, 1972. In 1974, he married Georgia Waymire Kiphart. She died Dec. 22, 1984.

He was a farmer and bank director since 1943. He was president of First National Bank and presently Director Emeritus of the Board of Directors at Star Financial Bank in Elwood and Star Insurance Agency in Marion. He also owned and operated Jarrett Canning Company.

He was a member of East Main Street Christian Church and a 50-year member of Quincy Masonic Lodge, York-Rite of Tipton and Scottish-Rite-Valley of Indianapolis. He was active in Kiwanis Club and Lions Club. He was a member of the Indiana Horse Trotting and Pacing Association and owned Indiana Horse of the Year several times. He served on the advisory board in Duck Creek Township.

Survivors include a daughter, two sons, four stepsons, 10 grandchildren; 24 greatgrandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lavonne Patterson.

Clarence married Veda Parepa Etchison in 1923. (Veda Parepa Etchison was born on 24 Nov 1905 in Indiana, USA, died on 13 Oct 1972 in Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana, USA and was buried in Elwood Cemetery, Elwood, Madison County, Indiana, USA.)
