General Notes: Alfonso VI (c.?1040/1041[a] \endash 1 July 1109[2]), nicknamed the Brave (El Bravo) or the Valiant, was king of León (1065\endash 1072)[3] and of Galicia (1071\endash 1109),[b] and then king of the reunited Castile and León (1072\endash 1109). Alfonzo married Agnes Queen consort of León and Queen consort of Castile, daughter of Guy-Geoffrey "William VIII" VIII, Duke of Aquitaine and Matoeda "Matilda." (Agnes Queen consort of León and Queen consort of Castile died about 1079 1.) Alfonzo next married Berta. Alfonzo next married Isabel. Alfonzo next married Constance of Burgundy, Queen consort of Castile and León, daughter of Robert I, Duke of Burgundy and Helie of Semur, about 1079. (Constance of Burgundy, Queen consort of Castile and León was born in 1046 and died in 1093.) Alfonzo next married Beatrice, daughter of Guy-Geoffrey "William VIII" VIII, Duke of Aquitaine and Hildegarde of Burgundy, in 1108. |
