SAMUEL: b. Dec. 19, 1765, at Roxb.; m. Rebecca Roberts, of Plymouth; b. Aug. 15, 1768. He was baptised in the Schuylkill Mch. 3, 1785. His wife followed in the religious ordinance before their marriage. They were of the constituent members of the Roxborough Baptist Church when organized. They lived at the lower end of Manayunk, on what is now known as Shur's Lane. He subsequently bought the premises of Andrew Wood, where the barn was burned by the Tories. Mr. Jones relates of him: "When he buried his first born child, he had a headstone placed at the grave, with the following inscription engraved upon it: "THE FIRST BORN AMONGST MANY BRETHREN." This to an unnamed infant suggested confidence in the future. Samuel d. Nov. 5, 1823. Mrs. L. d. March 25, 1854. Both are buried in Lev. Cem
