Charlotte Mary (Baumgart) Langerud, age 84, of Beach, North Dakota, passed away on Friday July 16, 2010, at St. Benedicts Health Center in Dickinson, North Dakota.
A Memorial Service was held on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at 7:00 PM at the Chapel of the Angels in the Golden Valley Manor in Beach, North Dakota. A Memorial Service will also be held on Sunday, July 25, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the United Methodist Church in Rock Lake, North Dakota with Pastor David Birkeland officiating with interment to follow in the IOOF cemetery in Rock Lake, North Dakota.

Charlotte Mary (Baumgart) Langerud was born in Antler, ND on October 20, 1925, the daughter of Paul and Phyllis (Nelson) Baumgart. Charlotte was raised and educated in Rock Lake, ND, graduating with the class of 1945. She worked as a waitress in Fargo, ND, for a year and then moved back to Rock Lake. She married Alton Langerud on April 11, 1947 at the Methodist Parsonage in Cando, ND. Charlotte and Alton farmed near Rock Lake until retiring in 1985. They moved into Rock Lake in 1988. Alton passed away on February 27, 2000. Charlotte continued to live in Rock Lake until January of 2005, when she moved to the Golden Valley Manor in Beach, where she lived until June of 2010 when she moved to St. Benedicts Health Center in Dickinson, ND.

Charlotte was very active in the community. She was a member of Rock Lake United Methodist Church, Rock Lake VFW Auxiliary, and was a 4-H Leader. Charlotte enjoyed entertaining family and friends and was famous for her donuts! She enjoyed walks, cooking and baking, playing cards, gardening and yard work. She and Alton loved to go snowmobiling with friends. Charlotte loved the farm life and was always active in it. She would help Alton during the harvest by driving the grain truck.

Charlotte enjoyed her years at Golden Valley Manor very much and participated in all the activities they had to offer. Even though her stay was short at St. Benedicts, she enjoyed the activities there and the loving care she received there. She always put family and friends first in her life. Charlotte was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who's loving kindness was felt by all who met her; she will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Alton; her brothers Paul, Harold, and Philip; her sisters Eunice, Doris, and Caroline.

She is survived by her son, Phil (Brenda) Langerud of Devils Lake, ND; her daughter, Nancy (Barry) Schafer of Sentinel Butte, ND; grandchildren, Lisa (Loren) Balkowitsch of Bismarck, ND, Bryce Schafer of Dickinson, ND, Justin (Katie) Langerud of Rosemont, MN, Brandon Langerud of Fargo, ND; great grandchildren, Xavier and Hudson Balkowitsch; sisters-in-law: Fern Langerud of Grand Forks, ND, Evelyn McConnell; brother-in-law, Palmer (Ila) Langerud of Williston ND, and numerous nieces and nephews. 2


Charlotte married Alton Langerud. (Alton Langerud was born on 24 Feb 1924 in Rock Lake Community Cemetery, Rock Lake, Towner, North Dakota, United States of America,2 died on 27 Feb 2000 in Rolette County, North Dakota, USA 2 and was buried in Rock Lake Community Cemetery, Rock Lake, Towner, North Dakota, United States of America 2.)
