She was born in Monroeville July 13, 1920 to Nelson A. and Emma M. (OBryant) Veit.
On July 10, 1941 in Defiance, Ohio, she married Kennie Haynes. He died May 27, 1983.
For 40 years she owned and operated Helen's Beauty Shop in Kendallville and for the past 15 years she worked at Betty's Salon of Beauty in Kendallville. She was a member of Wayne Center United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a son, William J. of Avilla; 2 sisters, Mabel Carunchia and Thelma Sobieski of Kendallville; 2 grandchildren, Tyler and Troy Haynes; and 2 great-grandchildren, Hilary and Nathan Haynes. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Phillip, Clarence and James Veit.
Funeral Wednesday in Berhalter-Hutchins Funeral Home, Kendallville. Burial, Lake View Cemetery. + 10-1-1995
