Veit James E, 49, R. 3, Kendallville, died Tuesday in McCray Hospital. Born in Allen County June 9, 1928, he was the son of Nelson and Emma (O'Bryant) Veit. He married Melda M. Stackhouse Dec. 6, 1953 in Ashley. A resident of Kendallville most of his life, he owned J & M Tire Co. the past 10 years. He was a member of VFW, Eagles Lodge and Mitchell St. United Methodist Church. Survivors are the wife; 6 daughters, Miss Carolyn, Mrs. Daniel (Barbara) Denney of Kendallville, Mrs. Greg (Beverly) Lower, Wolcottville, and Sandra, Rachel and Rebecca at home; one son, Michael, Kendallville; and 3 sisters, Mrs. Kenney (Helen) Haynes, Mrs. Mabel Carunchia, and Mrs. Thelma Sobieski, all of Kendallville. Two brothers preceded him in death. Funeral Friday in Berhalter-Hutchins Funeral Home. Burial, Lake View Cemetery. + 4-?-1978
