Homer Sands, b. May 24, 1896 d. April 13, 1927 He died in a airplane crash at Washington D.C. His body was brought back to Fargo for full Military Rites as he had been in the service. He was married to a Mary J. Green and they had a daughter Elizabeth who was 5 years old at the time of her father's death.

Enlisted on 15 August 1917 and sent to Camp Dodge, Iowa; he served in Company M, 350th Infantry to 27 April 1918; Air Service to discharge. Grades: Private 1st Class 26 April 1918, Private 13 June 1918, Private 1st Class 20 July 1918. Discharged at Ellington Field, Texas on 3 May 1919 as a Private 1st Class. Killed in an airplane crash at Bolling Field, Washington, D.C. on 13 April 1927 and buried at Fargo, North Dakota. ~~~

Captain Sands Funeral Held Military Lodge Rite Accorded Victim of Plane Crash
Full Military honors were accorded Captain Homer I. Sands, Fargo who was killed in an airplane crash at Washington, D.C., Wednesday, at funeral services which were held at 2 p.m. today in Masonic Temple. The services were in charge of Dr. H.L. Walster, Worshipful Master of Shiloh Lodge No. 1 A.F.&A.M., Rev. Ernest C. Parish of First Methodist Church and other officers of the lodge. 3
