General Notes:
The son of James & Rebecca (King) Leas, in 1860 he was a farmer living in Washington Township, York County, Pennsylvania.
A Civil War veteran, he was drafted at the stated age of twenty-five in York County October 30, 1862, mustered into federal service at York November 26 as a private with Luther's Independent Militia, and honorably discharged with the unit July 23, 1863.
He married Leah Myers and fathered the children you see linked below. In 1870, he was living in Latimore Township, Adams County, where he died from "paresis." ========================================

JOHN K. LEAS, a veteran of the Civil War, died at his home near Bermudian on July 4th, aged 75 years, 7 months and 4 days. Funeral was held last Friday morning. Interment at Bermudian Church, Rev. Paul Gladfelter officiating. He is survived by three children, Willis A. Leas, of Latimore township, Mrs. P.H. Lehmer of Dillsburg, and Mrs. J.C. Peters of Bermudian.
