He was a miller by trade, and a very strong
man \emdash often putting three barrels of flour one on top of the other. Sept. 28,
1849, he was elected to the ministry of the G. B. B. Ch. ; advanced Oct. 26,
1855, and ordained elder, and for many years presided over the Clover Creek
Congregation (Blair Co., Pa.). 1
John married Margaret Nicodemus, daughter of George Nicodemus and Mary Shontz, on 21 Apr 1844. (Margaret Nicodemus was born on 20 Sep 1822.)
