It has been speculated that his name is Leonhardt Lascht who was born about 1685 in Germany.

It has been suggested that a man named Stephen Leas who was born in 1680 in York County, Pennsylvania and who did in 1745, also in York County, Pennsylvania is the father of Leonard and John, but I have discovered several references to a Stephen Lea (not Leas) who has the same birth and death information. 3
