   Another name for Clementine was Lightner.5

  General Notes:

Mrs. Clementine Leas, the much esteemed widow of Isaac Leas, died of general disability at 7:45 o'clock Monday evening, at her residence on South Second street. She was bedfast eleven weeks. Her maiden name was Lightner and she was born in Clearfield county, June 16, 1828. She was twice married. Her first husband was Milton Smith, of Clarion county, whose death occured many years ago. Mrs. Leas who was a well known resident of Newport, died in May of 1889. Two daughters by her first husband, Mrs. *Gunder, of this place, and Mrs. *Hoelsche, of Broolville, Pa. survive her. Funeral services were held at the home at 3:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon, by Rev. Furman Adams, pastor of the late Mrs. Leas, assisted by Rev. Dr. S.C. Alerander and this morning the body was taken to Mechanicsburg, Cumberland County, Pa. for burial.
