  General Notes:

Elizabeth Ann Mote, duaghter of William and Mary Leas was born at Fort Jefferson, Ohio, October 26th, 1840, and died at her home in Greenville, Ohio, December 13th, 1929, aged 89 years, 1 month, and 17 days.
Her mother died when she was only two years of age. Her father later married again and she grew to young womanhood in her father's home with a sister, a half sister and a half brother. She attended the pioneer school at Fort Jefferson and then completed a normal course in a school at Jaysville. She taught several terms of school before and during the Civil War. She taught one winter in western Indiana, near Danville, Ill.
She married Joseph Mote December 25th, 1867. They lived at Fort Jefferson for four years and then for thirty-five years at Weaver's Station where Mr. Mote did a general merchandise business. They retired and moved to Greenville in 1907. Mr. Mote died in 1911.
Mr. and Mrs. Mote and their family maintained a high statndard in moral and educational life. Each one of the children as well as the father and mother was at some time a Public School teacher. The family was an influence for higher social and cultural life in the community where they lived. Mrs. Mote was a member of the Mt. Zion United Brethren church and on moving to Greenville transferred her membership to the Greenville Christian church.
One son, Horace, died in young manhood. Five sons and one daughter survive their mother's departure, - Alvin, of Springfield, Ill.; Walter, of Detroit, Michingan; Edgar, of San Francisco, California; John, of Yountville, Cal.; Stanley, of Greenville, and Mabel, of Greenville. One sister is living, Mrs Melissa Hecker, of Kansas City, Mo., five grandchildren and other relatives, neighbors and friends.
The funeral was held at the home on Sweitzer street Tuesday, December 17th, at 10 a.m. the sermon was by Rev. O.O Arnold. Burial was made in the Fort Jefferson cemetery.
