April 26, 2007 - Personal note from David A. Leas:
In each of us there are always one or more people who have a great impact on our lives. This is especially true in terms of being encouraged to pursue genealogy.
In my case, one of those key individuals was, Gladys Leas. Gladys was born on December 3, 1924 and she died this month on April 5, 2007.
Gladys had a way of bringing out the best in others. Her lifetime of experiences, her years of accumulated knowledge, both as a student and as a school teacher, and her calm confidence in herself helped to encourage others.
Although Gladys and I were not closely related; she was my fourth cousin, we seemed to relate to each other in terms of our common interest in family. Gladys helped me to realize many of my potentials when dealing with family and genealogy.
Gladys will be missed.
