  General Notes:

In the summer of 1727 the Ziegler family emigrated from Weiler and sailed to America on the ship "William and Sarah" from Rotterdam. The family included Johan Georg Philip, his wife Anna Martha and their three sons Johann Jacob (b. 5 May 1703 in Weiler), Johann George and Johan Philip. They arrived in Philadelphia on 21 Sep 1727. From there they squatted at Kreutz Creek (along the Susquehanna River in present day York County, PA). In 1730 they again moved and ended up in what would be present day West Manchester Township, York County, PA. Johan Georg Philip applied for a land warrant from the family of William Penn (Proprietors of Pennsylvania) in 1736, naming his 328.8 acre parcel "The Barrens of Jericho". The land patent was finally issued to his son Johan Philip in 1767 (Johan Georg Philip had died in June of 1756). According to the York County Historical Society, the Ziegler's were among the first twelve families to live in York County.
A number of Johan Georg Philip's grandchildren fought in the Revolutionary War.
