Catherine's obituary from the Steuben Republican newspaper, 27 August 1930:

Catherine Hovarter was born at Massilion, Onio, on the 22nd day of May in the year 1841 and departed this life, August 12th, 1930 at the home of her son, William, near Burr Oak, Michigan, aged 90 years, 2 months and 21 days.

She came with her parents when but a child to DeKalb County, Ind., where she grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage to Henry Hovarter, October 26, 1858, they coming to Steuben County, IN and locating near Helmer on the farm where they spent their entire wedded life. He preceded her in death May 15, 1901.
To this union was born five children, Isaiah of Ashley, William F. of Burr Oak, Michigan, Jacob Ira of near Helmer, Emanuel E. of near Helmer and John Allen (Almon) who preceded her in death.

She gave her heart to the Lord in early life when but a child and remained a faithful Christian until the very last, waiting patiently for the coming of her Savior, who came and took her home.

Brother and Sister Hovarter, a number of years ago, became inspired to build a U.B. church at Helmer, of which she was a member,w hich also stands as a memorial of their faithfulness to God. She remaining faithful until the very last.
She leave to mourn her going four sons, two brothers, three sisters, 26 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild and other relatives and a host of friends. The funeral was conducted from the U.B. Church at Helmer, Rev. F.F. DeGroff, officiating.

Catherine married Henry Hovarter, son of Johannes Howerter and Nancy Weirich, on 26 Oct 1858 in Dekalb County, Indiana, USA. (Henry Hovarter was born on 26 Oct 1836 in Wayne County, Ohio, USA and died on 15 May 1901 in Helmer, Steuben County, Indiana, USA.)
