Henry Boone

  • Born: Abt 1564, England
  • Marriage (1): Alice Luscombe
  • Died: Abt 1637, Dartmouth, Devon, England about age 73

  General Notes:

Henry Boone was a barber & a butcher.

One on Henry's children was named John, and also appears to have lived & died in Devonshire, England. John's son, also named John, appears to have been a "servant" aboard one of the 3 ships that founded the Charleston SC settlement in 1670.

The Carolina Colony - there was no North or South Carolina at this point - originated in the area of present day Charleston, SC. It produced products valuable to the British Empire, and it had a charter of tolerance not found in other colonies, It quickly grew in population and power and it attracted ambitious and powerful Englishmen to the new world, A branch of the BOONE family was part of this adventure.

Another son, Thomas, remained most of his life in England. Thomas became a merchant in or near London, and some time before 1693, brings his family to the Carolina colony. Thomas dies in Carolina in 1693, and it appears that his wife and younger children return to England. But his son Joseph, then about 16 years old, remains in America, possibly with his uncle John.

Henry was born in 1564 & died in Dartmouth, Devonshire, Englsh in 1637

Henry married Alice Luscombe. (Alice Luscombe died about 1638.)
