  General Notes:

At age 5 1/2, Elmer's parents both died, leaving him an orphan. He moved to St. Joseph, IL area and lived with his three uncles, Abner, Isaac and William Leas until college age. The day he graduated from Chrisitan Church College at Merom, IN, he married Hulda Wildman. Hulda had also been left an orphan & put herself through college by giving music lesson

They reared their four children in the old Leas family homestead at Stone Bluff.

Elmer married Hulda C. Wildman, daughter of Henry Gates Wildman and Sarah Ellen Quick, on 14 Jun 1899 in Atwood, Piatt County, Illinois, USA. (Hulda C. Wildman was born on 29 May 1878 in Atwood, Piatt County, Illinois, USA, died on 1 May 1945 in Veedersburg, Fountain County, Indiana, USA and was buried in Osborn Prairie Cemetery, Stone Bluff, Fountain County, Indiana, USA.)
