Charles Duane Shumaker, 87, passed away Monday, December 22, 2014. He was born in Salem Township, Pleasant Lake, to Harry and Opal (Ritter) Shumaker. He was a farmer and a mail carrier. Mr. Shumaker served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a graduate of Salem Center High School.
He married Boneata M. Perkins on October 17, 1953, and she passed away April 30, 2010. Surviving are: a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Marcia Shumaker of Pleasant Lake; a sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Carl Dilley of Ashley; grandchildren Jeremy and Brandi Ellert, and Christopher and Amber Ellert; great grandchildren Nevaeh, Adam and Brendan; and several nieces.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December, 27, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Home, Hudson, with Pastor Roger Dilley officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery with military graveside services.
Calling will be 2-6 p.m. Friday, December 26, 2014 at the funeral home.
