John was born Dec. 15, 1830 at Freidensburg, Pa., d. July 20, 1908 in
Reading, Pa. He was a tailor. He was also in the Civil War.
The family was well represented in the late war. John served nine months
in a Pennsylvania regiment; (Source Portrait Biographical Album of

Estate Papers -Berks County, PA: Petition of Rosa Muench, executrix of
the estate. States that John L. Diehl died at 349 Spring Street, Reading
Pa on 19 July 1908 at 10:5 pm. He owned personal property valued at $719.
and real estate (less encumbrances) worth $3,900. Property located at
234, 244, 246 and 248 Orange Street, Reading, PA. His will was proved on
27 July, 1908. He wrote the will on 1 May 1890, leaving his estate to
wife Catharine Ann and then to Rose, wife of Charles A. Muench.
