Francis Samuel Walker - Short Bio

Francis Samuel Walker was born May 6, 1809 in Knox County, Tennessee. He died March 27, 1888 in Henry County, Iowa, where he and his family moved in 1856. On the 15th of September, 1831, in Wayne County, Indiana, he married Catherine B. Pearsey. She was the daughter of Charles Pearsey and Elizabeth Lower. Catherine was born November 3, 1804 in Rockbridge County, Virginia, and she died September 7, 1882 in Henry County, Iowa.

The eight children of Francis Samuel Walker and Catherine Pearsey were:

* Vashti Annie Walker [Brewer/Edgar] who was born January 21, 1833 in Milton, Indiana, died January 31, 1929 in Iowa. Vashti married Jehiel Brewer and they had a daughter, Mary Catherine Brewer. Later in life she married John Edgar, who was a widower.
* Leander Walker, who was born October 4, 1836 in Milton, Indiana, and died January 26, 1900 in Greenfield, Indiana. Leander married a woman named Olive, and after the birth of their only child, Charles Francis Walker, Olive soon died. Later Leander married Mary E. Walsh from Ireland, and they had three boys: Bernard, Edward, and William.
* Rebecca Walker, born May 4, 1838 in Indiana and died September 3, 1848.
* Louvinia Church Walker, born December 1, 1839 and died March 10, 1916.
* William Pearsey Walker, born June 6, 1841. William married Mary Anderson and they had nine children: Louisa Walker, born 1866, died 1871; Francis Walker, born 1868, died 1871 (both Francis and Louisa died from diphtheria); Alice Walker, born August 17, 1871 in New London, Henry County, Iowa, died between November 20-24, 1959 in Hurdland, Knox County, Missouri; Edward A. Walker, born circa. 1877, died unknown in Brush, Morgan County, Colorado; Anna Mae Walker, born about 1881, died unknown; Rosamond Walker, born September 7, 1879, died November 1966 in Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon; Charles Jacob Walker, born about 1887, died 1919 in a small town in either Minnesota or Iowa; Bernice Walker, born circa. 1888, died unknown; Laurine Walker, born April 9, 1890 in Washington, Washington County, Iowa, died July 15, 1986 in Humboldt, Humboldt County, Iowa.
* Charles Pearsey Walker born April 13, 1843 and died March 8, 1922. Charles married Ruth Ellen Fox and they had the following children: Samuel Nathaniel Walker, born in 1869, died 1957; Everna Walker, born April 25, 1873, died April 25, 1951; Albert E. Walker, born January 15, 1876, died November 18, 1876; Thomas Walker, born November 2, 1877, died November 26, 1968; Leander C. (Lee) Walker, born May 8, 1881, died in 1968; Flossie Walker, born 1884, died June 11, 1968; James G. (Jim) Walker, born January 19, 1887, died September, 1973; John Walker, born November 14, 1889, died February 13, 1890.
* Ann Clarinda Walker, born May 15, 1846 and died August 8, 1924 Ann married William Edgar, and they had the following children: Willie Edgar, born and died June 18, 1864; Rebecca Edgar, born April 4, 1866, died May 6, 1898; John C. Edgar, born December 16, 1870, died October 11, 1891; Olivia Inez Edgar, born December 27, 1871, died August 26, 1941; George L. Edgar, born March 3, 1874, died January 11, 1948; Percy Arnson ("Arnie") Edgar, born May 16, 1877, died April 12, 1949; Cressie Kathryn Edgar, born April 5, 1879, died February 17, 1970; Joseph P. Edgar, born September 25, 1881, died May 23, 1939; Meg Edgar, born unknown, died before 1948.
* Margaretta Catharine Walker, born September 26, 1848 and died January 7, 1933. June 8, 1873, Margretta married Jesse V. Vaughn and they had the following children: Francis John Vaughn, born April 25, 1874, died March 20, 1894; Delta Effie Vaughn, born February 8, 1876; Charles Merrick Vaughn, born May 2, 1878, died May 2, 1959; Katherine Deborah Vaughn ("Kitty"), born July 2, 1880, died December 9, 1942; William Gillespie Vaughn, born September 19, 1884, died February 16, 1953; Walker Edger Vaughn, born September 18, 1887, died October 28, 1988.
