Richard Shipe 1
General Notes: Shipe Richard R, 53, of Sturgis, died Tuesday in the Sturgis Hospital. Born Aug. 5, 1927 in Noble County, he was the son of Cecil and Myrtle (Nickerson) Shipe. On Jan. 10, 1953 in Angola he married Mary Kay Gundrum. He moved from Indiana to the Sturgis area in 1954. He was a veteran of WW II and the Korean Conflict, having served in both the U. S. Army and U. S. Navy. He was employed by Ross Laboratories and was a member of Sturgis Church of the Nazarene, American Legion Post 241, Fort Wayne, and Lodge No. 171 Knights of Pythias. Surviving are his wife; 2 daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Deborah) Lehman and Mrs. Michael (Carol) Carpenter of Sturgis; 3 sons, Richard Jr., David and Donald of Sturgis; 5 sisters, Mrs. Henry (Shirley) Clevenger of Bronson, Mich., Mrs. Jody (Selma) Fagan of Fla., Mrs. William (Norma) Erickson of Ariz., Mrs. William (Melinda) Snyder of Jackson, Mich., and Mrs. Dennis (Rebecca) Cox of Sturgis; 2 brothers, Donald L. of Fort Wayne and Sheryl "Skip" of Indianapolis; and 12 grandchildren. One sister and one grandson preceded him in death. Services will be Friday in Rosenberg-Schipper Funeral Home, Sturgis. Burial, Oak Lawn Cemetery. + 2-?-1981 Richard married Living |
