Rev. Lowell Dean Philp went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 30, 2013. He was 89.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Glory To Him Church, 6193 Andrews Avenue, Ozark, AL, with Dr. Scott K. Hannen officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made to Glory To Him Church, 6193 Andrews Avenue, Ozark, Alabama, 36360.

Rev. Philp was born on May 27, 1924, in New Raymer, Colorado. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army for 3 years. Following his return he attended Central Bible Institute (later renamed Central Bible College) in Springfield, Missouri. In 1949 he was ordained as a minister in the Assemblies of God denomination. In 1953, he married Reba Hardy. Lowell was a wonderful husband, father, brother and grandfather. For many years he also faithfully served with his wife in ministry at various locations including Milligan, FL, Perry FL, Ashford, AL, Columbia, SC, Florala, AL, Dothan, AL, Lovetown, AL and Ozark, AL. Rev. Philp was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Mary Philp, one brother, Melvin Philp, and his wife, Reba Philp.

Survivors include his one daughter, Treva Leas and husband Mark of Dothan; and one granddaughter, Stephanie Leas.
