In 1866 they moved to Waterloo, Indiana where they remained until the time of John's death.

FARM FOR SALE

The subscriber, as agent for John Leas, will sell the farm on which he resides, being the North East Quarter of section 17, in Township 18 (Osnaburgh) of range 7, containing 160 cares. There are about 75 acres cleared and under good fence - a Cabin House and Barn - a Young bearing orchard - and a number of good Springs. -- As persons wishing to purchase will, no doubt, view the premises, a further description is deemed unnecessary -- except to say, that the land is of a good quality, well timbered, and situated in a healthy neighborhood.

TERMS -- $1000 in hand, $1000 in one year and the balance in payments to suit purchasers.

Sudden Death

John Leas, Sr., died very suddenly, at his residence in this place, last Monday forenoon.

He had been down town in the morning, and was apparently in good health. Returning, he sat down in a chair and expired, so suddenly that the family scarcely had time to call for assistance, even from the neighbors.

The funeral was attended at the Reformed Church yesterday, and was attended by a large audience of relatives and friends. The deceased was 77 years of age.

John married Sophia Spangler, daughter of Jonas Spangler and Susanna Rosenmiller, about 1816 in Maybe Adams Co or York Co, PA. (Sophia Spangler was born on 14 Feb 1799 in York County, Pennsylvania, USA,2 died on 13 Jun 1883 in Waterloo, Dekalb County, Indiana, USA 2 and was buried in Waterloo Cemetery, Waterloo, Dekalb County, Indiana, USA 2.)
