Carper Chalmer L, 83, of Auburn, died Monday in DeKalb Hospital. He was born Aug. 28, 1911 in Auburn to Oliver and Lois (Justa) Carper. He married Alma Whelan on Aug. 22, 1936. She preceded him in death. On Dec. 30, 1977 he married Dorothy Sisson. He was a journeyman pressman last employed by Wallace Homestead Printing Co. in Des Moines, Iowa and was a member of the Pressmen's Union in Des Moines. Surviving are his wife; 3 daughters, Frances L. Bright, Karen Carunchia and Theresa Nash of Kendallville; a son, Russ of Fla.; 2 sisters, Velma Gerig and Donna Mitchener of Auburn; 17 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Coral and Arden. Funeral Thursday in Hite Funeral Home. Burial, Lake View Cemetery. + 7-31-1995

Chalmer married Alma Louise Whelan, daughter of Living and Living. (Alma Louise Whelan was born on 5 Apr 1918 in Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana, USA, died on 20 Aug 1987 in Kendallville Manor Nursing Home, Kendallville, Noble County, Indiana, USA and was buried on 24 Aug 1987 in Lake View Cemetery.)
