The Petition of John Leas, one of the Children of Samuel Leas deceased, was read to the Court, setting forth that the said Samuel Leas died Intestate seized ...... as of fee of a certain missuage and tract of land containing about one hundred and seventy four acres of Land more or less with the appurtanances situate in Franlin Township adjoining the lands of John Leas, senr, Daniel Meyers, Jacob ..... and others leaving the following heirs: A widow and twelve children --

Esther (intermarried with John Karl now deceased)

Elizabeth (intermarried with Samuel Ernst)

And praying the Court to award an Inquest to make partitions of the premises to and among the children and representatives of the said Intestate, in such manner and in such proportions as by the laws of this commonwealth is directed if such Partition can become without prejudice to or spoiling the whole, but if Such Partition cannot be made thereof as aforesaid then to value and appraise the Same. Whereupon it is considered by the court and ordered that the sheriff of the County of York in his proper person with twelve good and lawful men of his bailiwick, in the presence of all the parties who shall choose to attend, or the Guardians of such of them as are minors (they respectively) ...... a report was to be brought back to the next Orphan's Court.

Court allowed 74 acres to be sold and on Dec. 17, 1822, John Leas, Admr. of the Estate, reported the sale of said land to Samuel Leas, Jr. for $154.00.
