Dorothy was born in Francesville, IN but spent her school years here in Indianapolis graduating high school from Belzer in Lawrence. She graduated from the University of Indianapolis with a nursing degree and worked many years at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove, IN. She later moved to Tacoma, WA to live with her sister Janet and her daughter Jennifer while working as a home care nurse. While living out there she loved to spend time camping, playing Bingo, and having picnics at the ocean and Puget Sound. Dorothy loved the mountains and was there when Mt. St. Helens erupted in the early 1980's. She was a big Seattle Seahawks and Mariners fan. All three of them moved back to Indianapolis in 1996 to help care for their ailing mother until her death in 1997.
Dorothy was quite involved in the genealogy and has collected numerous photographs and documentation in her searches. She was always involved in the family reunions and Thanksgiving dinners. And, she was always up for a good hand of euchre. She spread happiness and was always full of stories. She was much loved and will be missed. 2
