Vesta was born premature and it wasn't certain she would live but she did live and we, her family, were the better for it. She suffered all her life from pulmonary problems, chronic bronchitus and a susceptablility to pneumonia. She was a wonderful person, very kind. She was a dress-maker and was always busy making clothes and altering clothes. She made many of my clothes (niece Kathryn). She was a member of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church in Coshocton (later St. John's UCC). She was a wonderful cook. I was privileged to grow up in the home of my Grandmother Rosena Meitzler Shumaker with my mother and my aunts, Vesta, Bernice, Margaretha.
Vesta died at age 69 from pneumonia at Fairfield Home of the UCC at Upper Sandusky where she lived out her last years, spending summers at home; I have the last letter she wrote home telling us she was ill with pneumonia.
