He moved to Rye, N.Y. in 1726.. No record of will, estate or land purchase remain in County records. He deeded land at Hempstead, probably part of his father's estate, on May 26,1705, and made a recorded agreement with his brother Timothy and a John Searing on May 6, 1708.. Shows Timothy died in March 1702-03. My Kin by Romayne Lockwood Halstead, copied from Des Moines Library Apr 1993 by MJP shows that Jonas Halstead b. 1673, md. died after 1726. Also b. 1673 Hempstead, Long Island, d. after Jan 1726 at Rye Westchester Co. New York. md about 1699 wife's name not found. He deeded land at Hempstead on May 26, 1705 and made a recorded agreement with his brother Timothy and John Searing on May 6, 1708. Halsteads of the United States 1934, pg 61. Jonas Halstead (1673-1726) son of Timothy m. about 1899 removed about 1726 to Rye Westchester Co., N.Y. He deed land at Hempstead probably part of his father's estate on May 26, 1705 and made a recorded agreement with his brother Timothy and John Searing on May 6, 1708. There were at least eight children: Caleb (Timothy Caleb) (1699-1721), of which no further record has been found; James; Abiah (1702-1736), David; Job (1706-Apr 1750); of whom no further record has been found; Thomas; Jonas (1710-1739) of whom no further record has been found and Sarah (1712-1729) m. Nov. 22 1729 Peter Lott. unknown qlerd@kornet.net Anestry.com states that JOnas was a residnet of Hempstad, NY as late as 6 May 1723, when he is mentione das bieng the owne rof land adjacent to that sold by Daniel Pearslal to Thomas Less. He was of Rye, NY 1726.
