New Albany Student Killed By Fall
Bruce Parr, 18, Topples Off Bridge While Searching for Specimens.
While climbing the old Silver Creek interurban bridge at Glenwood Park, New Albany, to gather leaves for a botany scrapbook, Bruce Parr, 18, New Albany High School senior, fell sixty feet at 3:30 p.m. Saturday and was killed instantly. Death was attributed to a crushed skull. William Turley, 13, Mt. Tabor Rd., New Albany, was with him when the accident occurred.
Parr, a nephew of Capt. Edward Parr of the Louisville Police Department, who was slain a few years ago while making an arrest, is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Parr, 1908 E. Elm, New Albany; five brothers, Daniel, Dale, Robert, Harley and William Parr, and three sisters, Doris Mae, Iris Merle and Shirley June Parr. Funeral services will be held Monday at the Mullineaux Chapel, New Albany. Burial will be in Alton, Ind.
