Lafayette B. Leas ^{1 2}

  General Notes:

In a 1976 interview with Jesse Clyde Leas (b. Peoria 5-22-1892--d.
Abington, PA 3-25-1980) he said:

When I was quite young, my Aunt Emma and Uncle Delancey Whittemore
had a 120-acre farm 8 miles north, R. R. 2, Peoria. I had a cousin named
Florence who was two years older than me. My aunt and uncle adopted an
older girl, Thora, from The Home of the Friendless.

When I was older, I joined the Marines and was discharged in December,
1914. While I was away, my older brother, Chester Leas married Thora.
They were living with my father, Lafayette Leas, in his house in town.

Lafayette married Sarah Eunice Shippee, daughter of George O. Shippee and Eunice Whittemore. (Sarah Eunice Shippee was born in 1863,³ died on 13 Dec 1894 ³ and was buried in Prospect Cemetery, Dunlap, Radnor Township, Peoria County, Illinois, USA ³.)
