"He settled on the plain in "Pleasant Valley" in 1799 and soon thereafter had a whiskey distillery in operation. He was a money lender and a holder of mortgages." He and his wife Sarah had eight children. Jonas and his wife Sarah were buried "under the shade of the pine tree which has grown up in the old cemetery" as written on p.77 of "Pleasant Valley a history of Elizabethtown".
