General Notes:
Our dear mother Patricia Leas passed away on June 20th, 2023, at the age of 94. She was a wonderful woman who was always there for her family and friends. She was born in Ohio but grew up on a farm in Indiana. She graduated from St. Francis College in Ft. Wayne, Indiana in 1950 and then pursued a career as a lab technician in St. Petersburg, Florida. She met Richard Leas, who was also from Indiana, but who was stationed at MacDill, Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida. They fell in love and married in 1953. Patricia had three children and once they were all in school, she worked in the Duval County School system. She was there for over thirty years as a teacher and as a school administrator at Wolfson High School, finally retiring at the age of 72. After retirement she volunteered at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida for many years.
She enjoyed traveling with her children and grandchildren, knitting and crocheting, cooking, and sharing her wonderful creations. She was predeceased by her husband Richard and by her brothers John and Daniel and her sister Mary Jo. She is survived by her three children (Michael, Douglas, and Elizabeth) and their spouses (Gale, Corrie, and Chip), four grandchildren (David, Christine, Matthew, and Patricia), three great grandchildren (Blake, Matilda, and Jackson), her brother Frank and his spouse Margaret, and many loving nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by us all.
A memorial service will be held at Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home, 3600 Third Street South in Jacksonville Beach, FL at 11:00AM on July 8th, 2023
