Witness (27 Jan 1764): Office (9 Apr 1774): Office (11 Jun 1777): Office (21 Mar 1778): Colonial Records of Pennsylvania in Volume XI: Minutes of the Council of Safety for the State of Pennsylvania shows that the Council met on Saturday, March 21, 1778.
The Minutes record, "The application of Twenty-three inhabitants of the Town of York, in the County of York, praying that Jacob Eichelberger (who was elected with Will'm Leas, Esq'r on the 10th March last;) & also Mich'l Hahn of the Town of York aforesaid, may be appointed and Commissioned to be Justices of the Peace for the said County of York, being now read and considered; thereupon, Ordered - that Jacob Eichelberger be appointed & Commissioned to be a Justice of the Peace for the County of York."
Commissioned to be one of three Justices of the Peace for the County of York.
