Meredith Van Poer
Meredith Van Poer, the father of Nashville resident Darrell Poer, died Saturday, November 4, 2000, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. A resident of Tipton, he was 68.
Mr. Poer was born April 15, 1932, in Garrett to Gerald F. and Rosa Oster (Shippy) Poer.
He had owned and operated Country Corner Insurance and had been a teacher in Miami, Huntington and Marion counties. He also had been the superintendent of public instruction in Hamilton County.
Mr. Poer served on the Tipton County school board from 1994 until 1998. 2
